Perhaps best of all, cost of living is well below the national average (approximately 46% less than NYC, 22% less than Boston, 23% less than Los Angeles according to salary.com). The city is full of things to do from arts & entertainment, to professional sporting events. For a general overview check-out VisitCharlotte.com. (BTW: The coldest month of the year is January with an average daily temperature of 51 degrees Fahrenheit.)
